A Little Crochet Basket

If you’ve ever spent thirty seconds on the DIY/Crafts section of Pinterest, you’ve probably seen one of these.

Which eventually turns into a basket, crocheted around a thick cord which strengthens it.

I decided to give it a try. Luckily, seven-year-old me (for some unknown reason) bought that kind of rope, so I didn’t even have to buy anything to make this project. Yay!

I crocheted it with the same increases I would use making a semi-sphere without the cording. My only problems occurred when I was just starting, so I ended up with a hole in the bottom. Doesn’t matter, though, because it’s my new thread bowl for holding my neutral, often-used threads next to my sewing machine.

And I got some seriously Etsy-worthy photos of it.

I think I’m going to make another one, just to try to get the bottom right. I really like the combination of the smooth yarn and the rough rope. It’s a simple project for anyone with prior crochet or amigurumi experience, because it’s the same type of increase pattern.
