Vintage-Inspired Orange Dress

Timeline: summer of 2014, two days of sewing

Patterns Used: Simplicity 1873 for the bodice; the skirt is hand-drafted

Fabrics Used: orange faux suede from Joann; orange polyester (lining) from my stash

Embellishments: lace from Joann, pieced together; buttons from my stash, 22″ invisible zipper

My favorite part: the vaguely-vintage vibe and the color

Techniques: this was my very first invisible zipper (I’m obsessed now), blind hem (hand-stitched)

This dress ended up way too small for me so I gave it to one of my friends (whose style it matches perfectly) and, I have to say, it looks way better on her than it would have on me.
